JURGEN KLOPP is sure to be a happy man after watching Mo Salah’s Egypt scrape a draw against lowly Mozambique.
The Liverpool star needed to score a 97th minute penalty to draw 2-2 against a side ranked 111th in the world.
Egypt were expected to make light work of their opponents in Sunday’s African Cup of Nations group B opener.
Mostafa Mohamed fired them off to a quick start when he netted a fine finish after just two minutes, with Salah getting the assist.
But Egypt failed to build on their dominance.
And Mozambique were in dreamland when Witi fired home an equaliser in the 55th minute.
Things got even better for his country just moments later as Clesio Bauqe made it 2-1.
And Egypt looked to be on course for a shocking defeat, with Mozambique yet to win a game in their Afcon history.
But Salah managed to partially spare Egypt’s blushes with a penalty in the dying minutes of injury time.
The result will come as a relief to the Liverpool, with his side yet to take on Ghana – one of the pre-tournament favourites – on Thursday.
However, Reds boss Klopp is likely delighted with the outcome.
He is desperate to have Salah back at Anfield as Liverpool mount an unlikely title challenge.
And an early exit for Egypt, who finish the group stage against Cape Verde a week on Monday, would see Salah return for crunch games with Chelsea and Arsenal.
Speaking before his star man’s Afcon exit, Klopp happily admitted he wanted to see Egypt crash out as soon as possible.
Klopp declared: “I said (to Salah) if I wish you good luck it would be a lie.
“From a personal point of view, I would be happy if they go out in the group stage.
“But that’s probably not possible. They can go on and win it.
“So it was ‘good luck and come back healthy’. We have to deal with it and we will deal with it.
“I am positive that we will find a way.
