As one of the most well-known footballers in the world, Mbappe lives a far from normal life and in a recent interview he has admitted that he struggles with adapting to his own fame.

The 25-year-old has been famous all of his adult life. Signing for Paris Saint-Germain at the age of 18 for £165.7m making him the most expensive teenager of all time.

His meteoric rise means that it'll be hard to find anyone in France who doesn't know who Mbappe is. As a result, it has become almost impossible for him to do everyday things in his home city of Paris.

He has been consistently linked with a move away and although he is adored by his country, perhaps a move away would allow him to regain at least a small amount of normality.

Speaking to Envoye Special, as per GOAL he said: "Going to buy bread at the bakery? I’d pay so much money now to be able to do this kind of thing, which is normal for most people.

“I’ve lost spontaneity, the spontaneity of being a human being."

The forward was asked what he would do if he was given 48 hours of complete invisibility. He said: "I'd spend my two days outside, that's for sure! I can say that without thinking.

"Go eat quietly in a brasserie, go out, go with friends, party quietly, without anyone to come see me. The next morning, a nice brunch in the sun on a terrace, there you have it. Simple things in life."

Whilst the life of a footballer at the top level is one of complete luxury, it also comes with huge sacrifice.

It's no wonder players like Mbappe crave normality from time to time, but given he's achieved a lifelong dream surely it's worth it.

He's already lifted the Ligue 1 title six times won the World Cup with France in 2018 and scored a hat-trick in the 2022 final.

Mbappe is likely to continue to be the centre of attention for some time, not least because his contract runs out in the summer fuelling speculation over his next move.
