The Saudi Pro League added marquee names to their league this past summer, with Karim Benzema and Neymar Jr. at the forefront. However, the league now wants to bring a big name who’s entering or in the middle of his prime years.
Who do the Saudis have in mind? Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé. The 24-year-old will become a free agent in June 2024 and can sign a pre-contract once the calendar turns to 2024.
Michael Emenalo, director of the Saudi Pro League, spoke with MARCA (h/t Transfer News Live) about possibly pursuing the Frenchman again next year.
“With Mbappé, the conversation is open, but we don’t know what he wants to do,” Emenalo told the Spanish media outlet. “Our position is very clear: all players of this type know where we are.
“If there is a possibility or interest for Mbappé to be part of what we are building, today or in the future, we cannot reject this possibility. He’s a player that I like.”
Real Madrid wants the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, and they have a deadline for how long the Paris Saint-Germain star will accept their offer.
However, with the Ligue 1 side in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage, it’s hard to envision him making a decision. Nonetheless, it will be a wild January, with rumors flying.
